All women know regular maintenance, such as tweezing, waxing, threading, brow pencils and gel, help make the most of your eyebrows’ shape and your overall facial appearance. But if you’ve over-plucked, have barely-there eyebrows, or have experienced thinning with age you may need other options for obtaining the perfect brows. There are a variety of solutions that can enhance and improve the appearance of your brows temporarily and even permanently. Brow pencils, powders, waxes, and gels are usually the first products we experiment within to create stunning brows. But, one mishap seen far too often is going too dark. It’s important to mimic the look of your natural hairs. This can be achieved with a very fine pencil or brush. The upside to brow makeup is that it’s instant and affordable, however, the downsides are that it has to be done daily and it’s often difficult to achieve the best result.

So, when eyebrow maintenance becomes too much to handle on the daily, you may want to consider other options.

Eyebrow Tattooing is a permanent solution that has been popular for years, but there are drawbacks. First, it’s a painful treatment, even with numbing and most people would agree brow tattooing can look “drawn on”, flat, and frankly, unnatural. And worse, once your brows are inked in, you are stuck with them for life.

The latest obsession you can see all over Insta is Microblading. If you are looking for a more permanent solution to daily maintenance, but want beautiful natural brows that perfectly balance your facial features, then look no further. The obsession is about to begin! Microblading is a semi-permanent treatment that typically lasts about 6 months to a year. Simple “touch up” treatments are recommended annually to maintain their enhanced brow. The semi-permanent nature of microblading allows you the ability to change the appearance of your brows as trends change.

Women love microblading because the eyebrow can be created in a much more artistic way that creates the best shape for each face.

What exactly is microblading?

Microblading is a very precise eyebrow creating technique that uses a handheld tool that is like a pen with a sloped blade with little needles at the end. The needles don’t penetrate deep into the skin, rather they slightly scratch the surface to create the hair-like strokes. A medical grade pigment is used on the epidermis layer of the skin to create fine, natural appearing hair strokes. Prior to the etching process, the technician maps out a grid on your eyebrows to use as a guide during the treatment. The eyebrow area is also numbed prior to beginning to decrease discomfort.

After the treatment is done, the brows will be quite a bit darker than what they will look like after the healing process has completed. This can take approx.. 7-10days. The brows will scab and flake off leaving behind beautifully shaped and colored eyebrows.

How is microblading unlike tattooing?

Unlike tattooing, microblading does not go into the deep layer of skin. It’s more superficial. It is also not permanent and the color fades over time. The precise mapping and hair strokes are much more natural and finer than any tattoo. This is done with a small needle/blade rather than an electrical device that digs deep into the skin. Microblading is also a more comfortable treatment than tattooing.
Another major benefit of microblading is that you can reverse the result if for any reason you don’t like it. The pigment used leaves no scarring or discoloration and a simple solution can remove it bringing your brows back to their original state.

So, if you are looking for a semi-permanent option for faking fuller eyebrows that look natural, microblading might just be the hassle-free solution to spending hours penciling in your eyebrows only to get color and shape totally wrong.
