What is Dysport?

Dysport is a natural-looking, fast-acting injection that is used to smooth the lines on the face. It’s similar to Botox but the dilution and units needed is different.

The injections are administered at a doctor’s office and it only takes a few minutes for treatment. You will need to get further injections to maintain your results every three to four months as needed.

How Does Dysport Work?

Wrinkles are often caused by repeated movements and muscle contractions. Dysport works by reducing muscle activity and relaxing the muscles, and in turn, reducing the appearance of moderate to severe fine lines and wrinkles on the face.

Treatment takes 10-20 minutes and can help you look younger for up to four months.

What Areas Can Dysport Treat?

Dysport is FDA-approved to treat frown lines or the lines between your eyebrows, but it can be used “off-label” on a variety of different areas.

Forehead

Like Botox, Dysport can also smooth  fine lines or wrinkles that you have across your forehead. It temporarily reduces the movement in the muscles there which provides for a smooth and younger-looking appearance.

Crow’s Feet

Dysport can also be used to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet as well. If you’re struggling with fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes, Dysport can make those lines less visible without affecting your ability to make facial expressions.

Neck Bands

Neck bands or lines on the neck can be annoying. They can form due to genetics, muscle activity, or aging. Luckily, Dysport can reduce their appearance as well. A few injections of Dysport in the skin will make your neck appear more smooth and youthful.

Sides of the Nose

Lines around the sides of the nose, also called bunny lines, are often due to smiling, laughing, or even squinting your eyes. As we age, the collagen and elastin in the skin decrease and the skin doesn’t bounce back like it once did. This often leads to these lines. But with Dysport, you can reduce their appearance and achieve a younger-looking face.

The Dysport Procedure in Bloomfield Hills

The Dysport procedure is quick, easy, and relatively painless. We offer injections at Envee Aesthetic Skin Care. Dr. Ellen and her trained staff injects the Dysport into the areas where you’re experiencing lines and wrinkles. For frown lines, she will inject the formulation into five different areas around the forehead and eyebrows to give you the best results.

To prevent pain, she may apply a small amount of topical anesthetic, but even without it, you are unlikely to feel much discomfort. The procedure takes minutes and then you can be on your way. Dr. Ellen will provide some follow-up instructions and you may schedule a time to come back for maintenance.

Dysport Results

Generally, you can expect to start seeing results two to four days after your injections are administered. And with no recovery or downtime needed, you can go back to work or school immediately.

The final results will likely occur 10-14 days after the injections. The results may last up to four months. You can schedule a follow-up appointment for 3-4 months after your treatment to maintain your results.

After the procedure, you’ll want to wait a few hours before you perform any exercise, avoid alcohol for a few days, and avoid firmly touching the treated area for 24 hours.
