Many patients face loose, sagging, or drooping skin due to factors like the natural aging process, weight fluctuation, or pregnancy. Non-surgical options are more effective in tightening skin than ever before, and patients have multiple options to achieve their best possible results. At Envee Aesthetic Skin Care, we offer effective and safe laser skin tightening to help patients look and feel their best. But how does laser skin tightening work, exactly?
How Laser Skin Tightening Procedures Work
In most laser skin tightening procedures, an infrared light laser is used to penetrate below the skin’s surface. This generates heat, which reaches the collagen within the skin. As a result, the collagen will constrict and cause a firmer or tighter appearance within the skin.
While technically not a laser procedure, ultrasound skin tightening technology is often included within this category. This works in much the same way as a laser procedure, however, ultrasound energy is used to heat the skin and collagen rather than laser light energy.
In addition to causing the collagen to constrict, both laser and ultrasound skin tightening procedures can stimulate new cell turnover and new collagen production. This increases the efficacy of the procedures and extends results for longer-term skin tightening.
Your Laser Skin Tightening Options
At Envee Aesthetic Skin Care, we offer two skin tightening options to suit a range of patients’ needs. The first is a laser skin tightening system called SkinTyte. SkinTyte uses infrared light to target deep layers of the dermis, firming and tightening skin from the inside out. At the same time, the system uses cooling elements to maintain a comfortable and cool temperature on the outside of the skin. This both decreases and discomfort that you may feel and protects the skin, ultimately decreasing downtime after the procedure.
Ultherapy is also an option at Envee Aesthetic Skin Care. Ultherapy is commonly used for the face, neck, or chest to target skin laxity. This treatment uses ultrasound technology to tighten the skin, and the procedure can typically be completed in as little as 30-90 minutes. This procedure is often referred to as a non-surgical facelift.
Candidates for Laser Skin Tightening
Most people who see skin laxity or sagging are good candidates for laser skin tightening, and the procedure is generally considered less risky than a surgical skin tightening procedure such as a surgical facelift. However, those who have excessive or more severe sagging and loose skin may not see the results they hoped for and may be better suited to a surgical procedure. During a consultation, your skin and health will be evaluated to make sure that laser skin tightening is safe for you. Patients with active acne, skin cancer, or who are pregnant should not undergo laser skin tightening.
Laser Skin Tightening Side Effects
While laser skin tightening is safe, you should also be aware of potential side effects. These include redness, tingling, swelling, scarring, or changes in skin tone. These side effects are rare and can typically be avoided by choosing a qualified provider and following their directions for your recovery process.
